Claude at Work

Build an AI that knows your organisation, writes in your voice, follows your standards, and takes whole jobs off your desk while you keep the judgement.

Course Overview

  1. Section 1

    Foundations: platform, prompts & purpose

What you will be able to do: Use Claude safely with your organisation's information, write prompts that get specific, usable work first time, and know which part of Claude each job belongs in.

    • Meet Claude

How Claude behaves, why it sounds just as confident when it is wrong, and your first real back and forth on something from your own job.

    • Safety first

Where your data goes, how the Privacy Act 2020 applies, and the one habit that keeps confidential information out of the wrong place. You write your organisation's three-line rule.

    • Prompting with purpose

The GCSE framework (Goal, Context, Source, Expectations) and the follow-up turns that take a generic first draft to work you would put your name on.

    • Chat, Projects, Artifacts and Cowork

The different ways to work in Claude, what each is for, and a simple rule for choosing the right one for each task on your list.

    • Case study: read the tender

Turn a 41-page request for proposal into a one-page decision brief for leadership, then check the claims that would be most expensive to get wrong.

    2 quizzes

  2. Section 2

Real work: memory, brand, data, evidence

What you will be able to do: Set up a Claude Project that knows your organisation, produce on-brand documents, analyse data you can check, research with sources you can defend, and capture expert know-how without asking anyone to write it down.

    • Projects and organisational memory

Build a Claude Project from a small, curated set of files about how your organisation works, so it knows your context before you type a word.

    • On-brand documents

Use a brand reference file and a styled starter template so documents come out looking like your organisation first time, and avoid the font trap.

    • Working with data

Analyse spreadsheets with the working shown, a firm rule on missing data, and a hand check of the figure that carries the most money.

    • Research and evidence

Research competitors with sources, label every claim verified, inferred or unknown, and build a comparison you can come back to and refresh.

    • Capturing what is in someone's head

Document an expert's process for about an hour of their time: record them working, ask four questions at the decision points, and have them correct rather than write.

  3. Section 3

    Agentic: Cowork, Skills, guardrails

What you will be able to do: Brief Claude to complete multi-step jobs across real files, redesign one of your own workflows, turn it into a reusable Skill, limit what an agent can reach, and schedule work that is done before you start the day.

    • Cowork: from chat to task

Brief Claude to run a multi-step job across a real folder, with the outcome, inputs, rules and a stopping point set before it starts.

    • Redesign one workflow

Map one of your own recurring processes, decide which steps an agent owns and which stay with a person, and name the metric you will move.

    • Build a Skill

Turn your redesigned process into a reusable Skill that runs the same way every time, whoever is at the keyboard.

    • Guardrails and agent security

Prompt injection, over-permissioned connectors and unattended action, and the two questions that keep an agent safe: what can it reach, and where must it stop and ask you.

    • Scheduled tasks and connectors

Set up a scheduled task that does real work before you open your laptop, written to stand on its own and never send anything without you.

    3 quizzes

  4. Section 4

    Wrap up

What you will be able to do: Leave with a four-week plan for putting what you built into daily use, and your certificate.

    • Your first 30 days with Claude

A week-by-week plan to put your Project, brand file, workflow and Skill into daily use, and how to take it wider across your organisation.

    • Your certificate and what's next

How your certificate is earned, and where to go next with your organisation.
